Western Australia’s Clean Energy Council (CEC) WA Clean Energy Forum (WACEF), set to take place on 7 February, is aimed at exploring the state’s energy market transformation.
Powered by Goldwind, the event will tackle the decarbonisation of mining, the extraordinary opportunity for offshore wind and green hydrogen, First Nations engagement and participation in clean energy, and rooftop solar’s continuing evolution to power homes, businesses and remote communities.
Kane Thornton, chief executive officer of the Clean Energy Council, noted that the rapid integration of renewable energy in Western Australia served as an example of the variety of alternatives and opportunities open to other states and grids throughout the world.
“Over the last five years, renewable energy generation in Western Australia has doubled to 31.5 per cent. The policy landscape has matured significantly, with the state putting its past as a laggard behind it,” Thornton stated.
The CEC official added that the Western Australia Energy Market was running on 81 per cent renewable energy by the end of 2022, highlighting that without a sizable battery or a hydroelectric plant, the majority of that was generated by rooftop solar.
“While the renewable energy landscape is evolving, the state is a fascinating example of making the best use of the clean, low-cost resources available,” he said.
CEC WACEF 2023 will take place at Perth’s Pan Pacific Hotel. WACEF is a must-attend event for the Australian energy industry and those served by it.
