ASX-listed manufacturer DroneShield has completed the delivery of its DroneSentrry counter-drone capability to an undisclosed US airport.
This is the first permanent deployment of DroneSentry in the United States, according to DroneShield’s latest ASX announcement.
The DroneSentry system configuration is designed to provide detection capability, in compliance with current US legislation for civilian airports. It offers real-time drone detection, tracking, and reporting assisting airport authorities with security and risk assessment throughout the airspace.
The deployment includes DroneShield’s RfOne passive long-range drone detection sensors, which will are equipped with DroneSentry-C2 command-and-control enterprise software.
Jayde Wilks, sales executive for DroneShield, said the solution is aimed at addressing the increased safety risk posed by more drones taking to the sky each year.
“Drones can damage, or even bring down, an airliner with contact. Reports of airport disruptions due to drones continue to rise, and the safety risk and cost involved from plane diversions and flight disruptions can be significant. With this and future airport deployments, we look forward to helping address the risk,” Wilks added.
The revenue from the sale is considered immaterial, but the delivery is expected to serve as a potential gateway into the US civilian aviation market.
The deployment comes after DroneShield received a repeat order for its counter-drone solutions from “a high-profile US government agency.”
The repeat order, which will serve a customer with “some of most demanding and complex Government agency requirements globally,” showed the industry-leading capabilities of the DroneShield’s products, according to CEO Oleg Vornik.
