Wire Additive Manufacturing (WAM) developer AML3D has begun processing its compliance with the AS9100D:2016 quality systems accreditation for its proprietary manufacturing technology.

One of the highest levels of certifications for manufacturing companies in the aerospace industry, AS9100D is expected to position AML3D for future expansion and services.

The standard will also provide a framework that would allow for world-class business growth by leveraging a risk and opportunity-based process approach to manage the business.

The accreditation process is expected to be completed in the second half of fiscal year 2023, and cost the company approximately $25,000, which will be sourced from AML3D’s recent growth initiative capital funding.

Once completed, the certification would allow the 3D manufacturing company to demonstrate a commitment to delivering high quality, integrity, and best-in-class components to aerospace customers.

AML3D’s push for the accreditation follows its recent contract with Boeing, as well as other recent aerospace opportunities, the company said in a media statement.

The 3D company also noted that the AS9100D:2016 accreditation aligns with its growth strategy aimed at boosting sales of existing products and initiating sales of new and innovative products to the aerospace and defence industry.

“Implementation of AS9100D certification will further demonstrate AML3D’s commitment to delivering the highest quality components into the aviation, space and defence industry. This is an important step in our growth strategy for the company as we pursue high-value contracts for aerospace,” said Andrew Sales, managing director for AML3D.
